Morpheus,
Trump is not the first one and he won't be the last. My problem is that either protectionists like Trump don't learn from lessons of the past or don't care. Either way is bad policy
president trump is definitely a demagogue, a populist, and not a great extemporaneous speaker, just to mention few of his more conspicuous flaws.
however, i was going along because "it's the economy stupid".
now that has changed.

Scratch me "Sorry to hear that there's yet another person disappointed at the current Administration of the country. Sad."
Are you still in the cult? Disagreeing is a very healthy thing. At least way healthier than being in a group where everybody agrees.. Watchtower anyone??

Crazyguy,
The standard of living has gone consistently up for everyone, everywhere. The rich has acquired wealth at a faster pace than the rest of us, but the standard of living of just about everyone has gone up.
Just a small example, few decades ago traveling abroad was a dream for most of us. Today, that is accessible to a huge number of people. Cable TV, cell phones and many other life's comforts are the norm nowadays. Granted few of those thing didn't exist in the 70's, but quality of life overall has improved for everyone. I credit innovation and free markets for that.
Protectionism lowers the standard of living for everyone. You will see...or maybe not. I hope...I believe POTUS is either bluffing or someone is going to bring some sense into his narcissistic brain.

Sir 82,
"And the Mueller investigation is circling ever closer"
I just wonder if this whole thing is a distraction, a very expensive distraction for the rest of the world.
My other theory is that his friends, rich supporters and/or family can benefit greatly from big swings in the metals market. My last theory is that he may be as incompetent as he seems.
Well put Cofty!

Now that has changed. He wants to impose big tariffs on imported aluminum and steel. I am sure this is very pleasing to his base and few business people. But this decision has the potential to bring the world economy into a recession. I thought Republican were in favor of free trade, competition and business friendly policies. I certainly welcome the opinion of his supporters to clarify this flagrant inconsistency that is being criticized by both sides of the political spectrum.
the owner of the used apple store in derry new hampshire has put on his facebook that republicans are evil and they are not welcome in his store.
he has done tv interviews now saying that republicans simply should not try to come in and he can generally tell if someone is a republican.
it is interesting that a business owner can bar someone because of their political opinions but if a business owner conscientiously couldn’t make a cake for a gay couple, they are in legal jeopardy..
Hothabanero:"This is racism of the worst kind!"
Good grief! Here we go again. The guy is just narrow minded and stupid. The guy can never aspire to more than running/owning a used apple store. That much is obvious. However, nowhere is there the slightest hint of race based discrimination, but "racism" sounds far more inflammatory than stupid or narrow minded.
Your calling of racism here is the same as if I called racist the baker who refuses to make a specific wedding cake for a gay couple. "racism" is not the right adjective. It doesn't fit. You need to expand your vocabulary.
charity is lacking from the house of god.
i remember reading once about some young pioneer sisters who needed emergency accommodation and where turn away from brooklyn because they weren’t special pioneers.
charity begins at home..
Every day, every minute, the watchtower feeds the poor, spiritual food (i.e. bullshit)
in the aftermath of the valentine's day school shooting in florida, i have read quite a number of articles, blogs and posts about the event.
it is disturbing--and i think inexcusable--that many people take the opportunity to use horrible tragedies such as this to push their own particular agenda.. in particularly insensitive and tone-deaf tweet, conservative political commentator tomi lahren wrote: "can the left let the families grieve for even 24 hours before they push their anti-gun and anti-gunowner agenda?
my goodness.

The Bible, the U.S. Constitution, even the Second Amendment have something in common. They were written by HUMANS, who were addressing problems of their society in their own time. None is infallible and all of those documents would be outdated if it were not for the fact we explicitly or implicitly amend them.
The short version: The hell with the Second Amendment if you are trying to sell it to me as gospel. It ain't.
the oldest reference i can find is 2012, as follows:.
"think of that if you are ever tempted to violate god’s command not to associate with your disfellowshipped relatives.
" the watchtower 2012, 4/15/ p. 12 par.
Shunning started in 1939 with Olin R. Moyle, the Watchtower lawyer who sued Judge Rutherford. He won the lawsuit, but his JW family and "friends" wouldn't talk to him. He was a famous apostate who preceded Ray Franz apostasy case by more than 40 years
i have yet to read about the contradictions in the jw teachings on blood, but i have personally witnessed one.
i am a medical professional and have seen hemopure administered for an active jw who did refuse a blood transfusion.
its not fda approved here, but given in special life saving circumstances.
Crazyguy,"Actually a JW can have human hemoglobin"
Somehow your assertion doesn't fit with the little that I know about Watchtower's policies on blood. I am sure others with more knowledge have something to say.
